Digital Managing Editor - Atlanta Falcons Football Club, LLC (Flowery Branch, GA)

Position Summary

The Digital Managing Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of, including daily editorial and written coverage of the team. This position will be responsible for developing and evolving the editorial calendar while working closely with the Director of Digital Media and VP, AMBSE Media Group to ensure that content on the website meets (and exceeds) the interests of readers. He/she will suggest story ideas, assign articles and keep the staff on schedule as required. The Digital Managing Editor will also be responsible for teaching and developing team members to become stronger storytellers.

  • Lead the development of the football voice of
  • Expected to be front and center on as a personality that connects with fans.
  • Ensures content is relevant, timely and of interest to fans while keeping team integrity in check.
  • Pushes creative limits to tell the untold stories in unique ways while capturing new and unique audiences.
  • Directly responsible for growing Atlanta Falcons fan base through digital and social mediums, and increasing relevant KPI’s.
  • Works with digital media producers and beat reporters to establish football credibility with readers.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with football coaches and personnel staff.
  • Evaluate site and content metrics on a regular basis to ensure growth of key analytics over time.
  • Creates regular written content, including columns, that generate interest and traffic to
  • Responsible for processes, practices and frequency that lead to daily reader habits.
  • Determines the importance of articles and content hierarchy on the front page.
  • Assists in developing content ideas that promote the business interests and objectives of the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Responsible for teaching and developing team members to become stronger storytellers.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in journalism or related field, particularly in football.
  • Bachelor’s Degree

 Required Skills

  • Ability to manage staff in the on-time completion and delivery of projects
  • Experience posting content in website CMS tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft word or similar word processor
  • Graphics software knowledge a plus
  • Strong writing and storytelling ability
  • Ability to host or participate in video coverage a plus
  • Proven ability to establish credibility with football fans
  • Proven ability to develop team members
