Position Summary

The Digital Managing Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of AtlantaFalcons.com, including daily editorial and written coverage of the team. This position will be responsible for developing and evolving the editorial calendar while working closely with the Director of Digital Media and VP, AMBSE Media Group to ensure that content on the website meets (and exceeds) the interests of readers. He/she will suggest story ideas, assign articles and keep the staff on schedule as required. The Digital Managing Editor will also be responsible for teaching and developing team members to become stronger storytellers.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for consistent quality of daily written content on AtlantaFalcons.com.
  • Lead the development of the football voice of AtlantaFalcons.com.
  • Expected to be front and center on AtlantaFalcons.com as a personality that connects with fans.
  • Ensures content is relevant, timely and of interest to fans while keeping team integrity in check.
  • Pushes creative limits to tell the untold stories in unique ways while capturing new and unique audiences.
  • Directly responsible for growing Atlanta Falcons fan base through digital and social mediums, and increasing relevant KPI’s.
  • Works with digital media producers and beat reporters to establish football credibility with readers.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with football coaches and personnel staff.
  • Evaluate site and content metrics on a regular basis to ensure growth of key analytics over time.
  • Creates regular written content, including columns, that generate interest and traffic to AtlantaFalcons.com.
  • Responsible for processes, practices and frequency that lead to daily reader habits.
  • Determines the importance of articles and content hierarchy on the front page.
  • Assists in developing content ideas that promote the business interests and objectives of the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Responsible for teaching and developing team members to become stronger storytellers.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in journalism or related field, particularly in football.
  • Bachelor’s Degree

 Required Skills

  • Ability to manage staff in the on-time completion and delivery of projects
  • Experience posting content in website CMS tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft word or similar word processor
  • Graphics software knowledge a plus
  • Strong writing and storytelling ability
  • Ability to host or participate in video coverage a plus
  • Proven ability to establish credibility with football fans
  • Proven ability to develop team members

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football club and member of the National Football League (NFL).  The Falcons compete in the NFL’s NFC South Division. The team currently plays their home games at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta, but will begin play in the new Atlanta stadium in 2017. The team’s headquarters and practice facilities are located at a 50-acre site in Flowery Branch, Georgia.  The Falcons’ NFL expansion franchise was awarded in 1965.  Under current owner Arthur Blank’s leadership, the Falcons have become one of the League’s premier teams on and off the field.

Digital and social media are indispensable and central components when authentically connecting to our fan base, both locally and nationally. As part of the AMBSE Media Group, the Atlanta Falcons Photography Manager / Digital Team Photographer will play a lead role in developing high performing digital imagery and packaged content for Falcons’ digital and social channels, including the team’s official website, app and social channels. This will include capturing, producing, packing and posting in-game and pre/post-game imagery, as well as practices, team and player events, etc. He/she will also be responsible for auditing and recommending enterprise-wide photography solutions for the entire Blank Family of Businesses. This position will help evolve AMBSE Media Group’s ability to create relevant content and stronger stories through unique and powerful imagery.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary team photographer the Atlanta Falcons team both on and off the field.
  • Maintain awareness of game situations and team surroundings to ensure key moments are captured.
  • Responsible for managing and organizing digital photo asset system, as well as making sure that photos are tagged, archived and available for use in a timely fashion.
  • Work with the Digital team to develop new photo content ideas that may incorporate audio, motion graphics and other video or design elements.
  • Collaborate with editorial staff, graphic designer, producers and digital staff to create timely, relevant, unique visual packages that drive fan interest.
  • Communicate consistently and proactively with social and video teams to make them aware of great shots that could lead to high performing content.
  • Keep current on digital / social / photographic trends and technology.
  • Manage all Falcons freelance photographer needs and images generated by freelance photographers.
  • Responsible for lighting and shot composition for photo shoots.
  • Ensure consistent, updated, relevant photo galleries exist on AtlantaFalcons.com.
  • Crop images to highlight the most impactful, human elements of each shot.
  • Understand the importance of timing to content performance and ensure that photo galleries and other photo content are delivered when fans are looking for it.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in photographing high-speed action.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in lighting for photography.
  • Experience in creating image-based storytelling content.

Required Skills

  • Unique creative eye for shooting game photography, as well as capturing emotion within other aspects of game prep.
  • Strong interests in football, both on-the-field and the lifestyle aspects off-the-field.
  • Must understand the technical aspects of photography equipment and shooting in different lighting environments.
  • Ability to recommend cost-effective solutions for photo management and equipment.
  • Ability to not only shoot, but also think through the lens of a creative storyteller while shooting.
  • Desire to create new and interesting digital photo content that generates an emotional connection with fans.
  • Proactive and collaborative communication skills that lead to new content ideas for the Falcons Digital and Communications Team
  • Must have basic Photoshop experience and skills.
  • Ability to identify photography needs and recommend freelance solutions.
  • Strong creative writing and storytelling ability a plus.
  • Organization techniques to ensure that all of our images are archived properly.

He/she will be responsible for helping to create, manage and execute a robust and aggressive editorial calendar for digital / web and social platforms from concept to execution, as well as play a critical role in elevating our KPI metrics.

This high-profile, fast-paced and challenging opportunity requires strong leadership and organization skills by helping to create a clear football story calendar, integrated vision, and detailed long and short term strategy around our brand and team. He/she will be responsible for bringing innovative thinking to the team while managing deliverables in an efficient, timely manner. He/she will be responsible for helping to define our voice while collaborating with other team members to create content that is inspiring and entertaining for Falcons fans, ultimately driving business results.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Help create and manage detailed, integrated editorial calendar for web, app and social platforms
  • Drive football editorial vision, voice and strategy to enhance fan experience across all digital and social platforms
  • Help shape and define youthful Falcons football voice and perspective
  • Drive integrated content ideation from concept to completion across all platforms
  • Write unique, compelling short and long form stories / editorial covering Falcons related activities both on and off the field. Focus will be on covering the Atlanta Falcons brand, team, practices, games, individual players and coaching staff. This includes, but not limited to conducting player and coach interviews, covering practice and games, staying up to speed on NFL and college football related news, etc. May require some travel
  • This position is responsible for aggressively increasing KPI metrics
  • Serve as editor across all web, app and social channels
  • Create and publish photo galleries
  • Ensure integration with all Atlanta Falcons departments including communications, marketing and community relations leaders across the Blank Family of Businesses
  • Link site metrics to overall communications and brand metrics for evaluation of strategy versus execution

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Four-year degree
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in journalism, media, editorial newsroom, or related field

Required Skills

  • Strong journalism and editorial skills including proven success driving metrics and engagement within digital / social media platforms
  • Ability to meet aggressive editorial deadlines
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, etc. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced, demanding professional setting
  • Back end technical / developer knowledge for digital / web and social mediums. Prefer knowledge of NFL CMS platform, but not necessary
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and teams
  • Experience with professional or collegiate sports is required

Position Summary

As we work towards the Inaugural Season for Atlanta United in 2017, we are hiring a Digital Content Producer who will assist with daily content creation for Atlanta United’s digital media distribution channels, including the team’s official website, microsites and social channels. The position will report to the Manager of Digital and Social Media.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of ATLUTD.com
  • Build pages and work in the content management system for ATLUTD.com
  • Manage all content uploading in a variety of content management systems.
  • Create unique written pieces for ATLUTD.com and official social channels that tell the continuing story that is Atlanta United.
  • Produce written content and schedules.
  • Develop, create and deploy content across all digital outlets for the website.
  • Edit and proofread a variety of content types for the website, ensuring it meets style, tone and marketing message requirements.
  • Owns projects end-to-end as assigned and overseen by manager.
  •  Intimately understand corporate priorities and how they connect to pop culture trends and media.
  • Act as point-person and in-house “expert” for certain content publishing systems.
  • Manage relationships with other teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training or experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Digital Media, Interactive Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field.

Required Skills

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and think creatively.
  • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills, including superior attention to detail.
  • Availability to work long, irregular hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of:
    • HTML5
    • CSS, particularly related to mobile browsers
    • Working with content management systems
    • Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop)
    • JavaScript
